Arboleda Academy
A proposed public charter school in Albuquerque
Arboleda Academy seeks volunteer founding board members, especially a CPA or financial professional, to help launch a public charter school for students with autism, ADHD, and other learning differences.
About the school
Planned for fall 2028 in Albuquerque, subject to charter approval, the school will initially serve approximately 50–60 students in grades K–2. Small classes and evidence-based instruction tailored to students’ readiness and support needs will promote academic growth, independence, and belonging.
Founder Megan Rosker, an educator and former school leader, is developing the school through fellowships with the National Accelerator of Autism Charter Schools and Excellent Schools New Mexico.
Founding board responsibilities
● Shape the mission, charter application, and opening plan, with measurable goals.
● Support and help with oversight of budgets, financial reports, and controls, aligning resources with student needs.
● Set policies and leadership expectations; monitor academic, financial, and organizational progress.
● Build community partnerships and help recruit board members with complementary skills.
● Prepare for meetings, participate in training and make decisions transparently.
● Protect students’ interests by supporting equitable access, appropriate learning supports, and accountability for the commitments made in the school’s charter.
Who we hope to connect with
We welcome collaborative professionals committed to students with diverse learning needs. Accounting, budgeting, audit, or nonprofit finance experience is especially valuable. Financial oversight is shared by the full board.
Commitment and training
This unpaid role offers the opportunity to continue on the governing board. New members will receive training from the National Accelerator of Autism Charter Schools (NAACS). The board provides strategic oversight; school leadership manages daily operations. Meeting and service expectations will be discussed with prospective members.

Casa Milagro | Santa Fe, NM | Volunteer Board Position
Casa Milagro is seeking a new Board member with experience in finance, accounting, banking, financial management, or nonprofit finance.
Casa Milagro provides supportive, long-term housing and community in Santa Fe. As we strengthen our Board, we are looking for someone who can help directors maintain strong financial oversight and better understand the organization's financial position, risks, and long-term sustainability.
This is a governance and oversight role, not a bookkeeping position.
What you would help with
The Finance-focused Board member would help the Board:
• Review monthly financial statements and budget-to-actual results
• Understand cash position, reserves, material variances, and financial risks
• Participate in annual budget review and approval
• Provide appropriate oversight of accounting and financial controls
• Communicate effectively with Casa Milagro's outside accountant and auditor
• Help the Board ask the right financial questions
• Support development of clear, sustainable financial policies and practices
• Participate in broader Board governance, strategy, fundraising, and organizational oversight
The right candidate may eventually be interested in serving as Board Treasurer, but new members are not expected to assume an officer role immediately. We want candidates to first learn the organization and determine whether the role is a good fit.
Ideal backgrounds
We would particularly like to hear from:
• CPAs and accountants
• Controllers, CFOs, or finance directors
• Bankers and financial-services professionals
• Nonprofit finance professionals
• Business owners or executives with strong financial-management experience
• Retired professionals with relevant financial experience
Prior nonprofit experience is helpful, but not required.
Commitment
• One regular Board meeting per month
• Advance review of financial and Board materials
• Approximately 2–4 additional hours per month, with somewhat greater involvement during budgeting, audits, or special financial projects
Santa Fe or northern New Mexico candidates are preferred, but qualified remote candidates may also be considered.
Board service is voluntary and unpaid.

Management Consultant Position - CABQ AGO Committee

Board Duties: The AGO Committee is an independent oversight committee and not a public board, commission, or committee and is not subject to the Open Meetings Act. The AGO Committee does not have authority to formulate public policy. One of the AGO Committee's primary functions are to review audit and investigation reports from the Office of Internal Audit and Office of the Inspector General, respectively. The AGO Committee also conducts the applicant search and recommends to the City Council the selection of the City Auditor and Inspector General.

Members: The AGO Committee consists of five members who are residents of the City. As vacancies occur, the City Council and Mayor alternate appointing new members. If either the Mayor or City Council fails to name a replacement Committee member within 45 days of the vacancy, then the other body shall make the appointment. Committee members serve staggered three-year terms. Terms shall begin on the first day of September.

Qualifications: Per ROA 1994 § 2-10-5-(A): at least one member shall be a Certified Public Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor, at least one member shall have a law enforcement or law background and at least one member shall be a professional management consultant.

Additionally, “to be independent in fact and appearance, the AGO Committee must be free from conflicts of interest and not employed by the City, or in a direct contractual relationship or similar business relationship with the City. No member of the immediate family of the Office of Internal Audit or the Office of the Inspector General personnel shall be a member of the AGO Committee.
